I really enjoyed this book. What a year was - a critical and momentous year for Britain in what proved to be a long and costly seven years of war.

The author reflects on the human character of many British heroes from that year - Wolfe, pursuing a death wish and his moment of glory at Quebec; Rogers, a brilliant frontiersman fighting 4/5(35). McLynn argues that was a pivotal year in the Seven Years War, or the French and Indian War as I was taught growing up.
